We’re Jake and Gina. The founders and authors behind The Wicked Wallet.

Since you clicked on our About Us, we’re assuming you want to know where it all started…

Well, let’s rewind all the way back to the spring of 2015, when we were lucky enough to spend a semester studying abroad in Spain. The time we spent living abroad taught us an extraordinary amount about ourselves and what we want from life. 

It also taught us how to budget our time and money to be able to enjoy as many experiences as possible. We quickly realized how limited our time really is, so we had to be wise about spending it. The same went for money. We could eat out at a fancy restaurant or spend that same money on flights to the Canary Islands… guess what we chose. 🙂 

These lessons didn’t stay in Spain. They came back home with us and are what we credit to sparking our passion for personal finance. 

After delving into just about every personal finance book, podcast and blog, we began taking action on what we learned. From house hacking to maxing out retirement accounts, we were on a roll and our friends and family began to take notice. 

We recognized that this knowledge wasn’t as common as we thought and we were constantly encouraged to share it. Hence the creation of The Wicked Wallet.

Our goal for The Wicked Wallet is to help as many people as we can while also learning as much as we can. There is a clear lack of financial education in this country, with most American’s not even having $400 in their bank account. We want to help change that. 

Personal finance shouldn’t be taboo. It should be common conversation and not a scary subject to bring up at the dinner table.
