After reading Part 1 and taking the DiSC assessment, you should now know your natural tendencies as well as any strengths and weaknesses that comes with your given personality.

Not only knowing, but understanding these strengths and weaknesses can help you improve your interactions with other personalities. But there is still one question remaining, why are we like this?

Enter the Color Code personality test. When taking this test, you will notice that it is asking you to answer as if you were the child version of yourself. You need to try to remember your childhood behavior for the most accurate results.

Upon completing the questionnaire, you will receive what color you are most dominant in. That being said, each personality is represented by more than just the one color and mostly contains percentages of each colors. You can take the full paid version here to find out exactly how much of each color innately lies with your  personality.

There are four colors, each represents a different personality type:

Red = Power. Attracted to leadership opportunities. Want to get from Point A to Point B in the most efficient manner. Have a need to look good to others and need to be right. It’s a reds way or the highway.

Blue = Intimacy. Have a need to connect with others on a meaningful level as well as a need to be appreciated. Incredibly loyal friends. Often worry-prone. Strong analytical thinkers.

White = Peacemaker. Need inner harmony and balance. Very kind. More independent than other colors and also the best listeners out of all the colors. Crave alone time and will not tolerate being controlled by others. Always even-tempered.

Yellow = Fun. Always live in the moment. Need others to create structure for them and also need to look good socially. Very inclusive and playful. Easily distracted and highly sensitive. Can be irresponsible but spontaneous. Always see the bright side of any situation.

Now remember, your answers are being derived from your childhood behavior so although you might have changed on the exterior since then, these represent your innate wants and needs (each of us is born with them). That means these strengths and weaknesses are untaught, these are not influenced by outside demographics. Color Code is exploring motives to define your personality. They refer to your dominant color as your DCM or Driving Core Motive.

If you signed up for the paid version of the test, you will also find out your secondary color. This has a major impact on your personality and you’ll often find yourself possessing many of the traits of your second color as well.

In this version, you will dive deeper into your needs and wants of your DCM as well as your secondary color. It will also identify your strengths and limitations in line with all four colors and show you which are charactered, healthy, unhealthy and dysfunctional. By knowing these, you can work on pinpointing a more negative behavior and try to reverse or stop it.

For example, I am a yellow but my secondary color is blue. Some of my strongest limitations within my blue secondary color include being hard to please, judgemental and emotionally intense. Being able to single out when I am displaying any of those limitations will help me work with others more effectively.

The paid version also provides examples on what you need to start doing, stop doing and continuing doing in your work, personal and love lives. These are structured as bullets so you can literally walk down the list and try out each of them.

While looking at your own personality is vital, it is also important to look at the other colors and how you may differ so you can work on building stronger relationships with each. Being adaptable able to connect deeply with other personalities will only prove to help you in growing a strong, dependable network. When you receive your report (paid version only), it lays out how to build the best relationships with each of the color what you must do and what you must not do. For example, to build a great relationship with a red personality you must always prepare yourself with facts and figures. This is because reds drive for efficiency and are logically driven.

At the very end of the report, you will receive links to various videos and audio files that will provide more information on your specific personality, how to identify others personalities and how to use what you learned to improve your life. As Jocko Willink said “We all have a tendency to avoid our weaknesses. But when we do that, we never progress or get any better.”

I would highly recommend trying out the paid version because of the amount of extra information given that seriously help you grow. See if your employer will pay for it! Self -employed? It could definitely be argued as a business development expense. To optimize the quality of work, you must first understand you innate motives. That being said, the free version is pretty awesome too.

By utilizing this knowledge about your inherent personality, you can heighten not only your own self- awareness but also your relationships with others. As always, thank you for reading and please let us know what color you are in the comment section!
