Do you enjoy shopping online? Would you enjoy it even more if you could earn cash back from your purchases? Gina and I try to use Ebates whenever we are making purchases online because, why not earn some cash back? Ebates is a super simple concept, it is not a scam, and if your not using it then you are potentially leaving money on the table. In this post I’ll discuss what Ebates is, how it works, and why you should definitely sign up.

Ebates, What Is It

Ebates is an online site that was founded in 1998. They classify themselves as an online shopping rewards company and they have over 10 million members! If you honestly haven’t heard of Ebates I’d be a little surprised.

Ebates gives you FREE cash back when you purchase items through their site! So, how does it work?

Ebates explained:

“Ebates saves you money by using a simple business model: stores pay Ebates a commission for sending our members to shop at their websites. Ebates then splits that commission with you, in the form of Cash Back. “- Ebates

Let’s walk through an example that will show you why it is worth shopping through Ebates.

Your sitting at home watching TV and decide that you want to do some online shopping. Naturally, you go to a site such as amazon, search for your product, make the transaction and your done. Unfortunately you’ve never heard of Ebates and you miss out on FREE cash back.

If you were a member of Ebates you would simply get on the internet, type in ebates.com and login into your account. From here you can select the site that your are planning to purchase from. In this case its amazon, so you select amazon and get redirected to their site and from here its shopping as normal. However this time when you make your purchase you receive the cash back percentage that was displayed on Ebates. (See the picture below for an example)

Let’s say you purchased a new tv that was $1,000. If you didn’t purchase through Ebates you receive $0 cash back, but if you did purchase through Ebates you’d receive up to 5% cash back from that purchase. If you purchase qualifies for the full 5% then you would receive $50 cash back. Now, I don’t know about you but I’ll take $50 over $0 any day of the week.

Ebates offers over 2,500 stores to shop from which means that the majority of your online purchases can receive cash back. Below is just a small sample of stores that offer cash back by going through Ebates.
